Screen Play: Katy Albert & Emily Eddy

With Ariolimax di: Sarah Martino & Claire Jade Wong in the Milwaukee Ave. Window Gallery

Opening Friday, October 11th 6–9pm

Being behind and in front of a camera is a rough way to live and most of us are living it these days. In screen play Katy Albert and Emily Eddy explore performance between the screen, on screen, off screen, and some screens in between. Razing the standards of good taste, videos range from the grotesque to the intimate in a robust schedule of new and recent work. Objects arranged throughout the space reinforce the anguish and pleasure of living with oneself on the mind.

Katy Albert is a woman of many interests. Her work includes One Half Hour of Wiggling, the Katies Crossing mini series, and tons of Mothergirl Performance performances. Thematically she reflects on the daily negotiation of commodities, the commodification of experience, comedy, and common objects.

Emily Eddy is a film, video, and digital media artist and curator based in Chicago. Combining many forms of moving image, her work utilizes strategies of video diaries, archival practices, and experimental documentaries. Emily has curated screenings and exhibited work at many venues in Chicago as well as in Los Angeles, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Reykjavík, Iceland; and her hometown, Portland, OR.
