A note on submissions for 2026:
We are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year! To commemorate this milestone, we will be running special programs with some old friends and family, one in March, then another this summer. The fall will feature two special Double Exposure exhibitions featuring past applicants.
So we will not be accepting new submissions for 2026 for Double Exposure nor CONNECT. The next call for proposals for winter/spring 2027 will take place this summer. Stay tuned for more info about all of these good things!
Please send all materials to rootsandc@gmail.com. Please submit your files via Google Drive (preferred); uploaded in folders or zip files; or via a third party download/ hosting site. If including video, please include links to third party sites.
There are two options: submit a proposal for a two person show or submit a single artist’s portfolio. Single artist submissions are eligible for pairing by our Programming Committee and must include an artist statement not exceeding 300 words, a list of submitted works, and a current CV.
Two person show proposals should include an exhibition statement (statement of intent) not exceeding 300 words, a list of submitted works, and current CVs. All submissions should include 15- 20 images and/or 3-4 linked video clips.
Do not expect a confirmation of receipt.
Proposals submitted past the deadline may not be considered for the review.
Replies with decisions typically sent within two months of deadline.
At least 2/3 of the Double Exposure program supports Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, women, LGBTQ+ people, trans and gender nonconforming people, and/or people with disabilities.
Double Exposure supports primarily Chicago- based artists, comprising at least 2/3 of the program.
We do not accept submissions from artists that will be enrolled in BFA or MFA programs during the exhibition season.
In our decision letters, we provide feedback to the finalist pool of the top 30% of applicants. Please understand that we do not have the staffing resources to individually respond to every applicant.
